Collision Repair

Collision repairdone properly, start to finish

Nobody plans for this part. You have a damaged car, an insurance company to deal with, and a week that just got complicated. Bring it to us and we will take the rest of it off your hands.

What we actually do

We are a family-owned shop on Harmon Rd, and we handle everything from a scraped bumper to structural damage that needs the frame pulled back to factory specification. The owner is in the building, on the floor, on every car that comes through.

Being Gold Class certified means our technicians train on current repair procedures rather than working from what was true fifteen years ago. Vehicles have changed. High-strength steel, aluminum panels and the sensors behind your bumper all have manufacturer procedures that have to be followed, or the repair looks fine and is not.

How the repair goes

Here is the actual order of it, so you know where your car is when you call.

  1. EstimateYou bring the car by, we look at it and write an estimate. Free, no appointment needed.
  2. InsuranceWe open the claim with your adjuster or pick up one you have already opened, and get the repair authorized.
  3. TeardownThe damaged area comes apart. This is where we find what the outside was hiding, and where most supplements get written.
  4. MeasuringIf the impact reached the structure, the car goes on the measuring system and we compare it point by point against factory specification.
  5. Structural workAnything out of spec gets pulled back into spec. The measurements tell us when it is right — not the eye.
  6. Body and panelDamaged panels are repaired or replaced, gaps are set, and everything is fitted before it goes anywhere near paint.
  7. PaintPrep, colour match, spray and cure. The paint work is covered in detail on our body paint page.
  8. Reassembly and calibrationTrim, lights and sensors go back on. Anything requiring calibration is calibrated, not just reconnected.
  9. Final inspectionThe car is checked over and cleaned up before we call you. No car leaves here that we would not hand to family.

We deal with the insurance company

This is the part people dread, and it is the part we take over. We speak to your adjuster directly, submit the documentation, handle supplements when the teardown finds more damage, and coordinate your rental so you are not making four phone calls between shifts.

What we will not do is promise you an outcome on your claim. What your policy covers is between you and your carrier. What we can do is document the damage thoroughly and make the case for a repair done correctly.

You choose the shop

Your insurer may recommend a shop from their network. They are allowed to recommend. They are not allowed to require. In Texas that decision is yours, and telling your adjuster you are using Excellence Auto Collision is all it takes.

The difference with a local shop is who picks up the phone. You will talk to the same people every time, and they will know which car is yours without looking it up.

Common questions

Do I have to use the body shop my insurance company recommends?

No. In Texas the choice of repair shop is yours. Insurers keep lists of shops they have agreements with, and they are allowed to recommend one, but they cannot require you to use it. If you would rather bring the car to us, tell your adjuster and we will handle it from there.

How long will my car be here?

A bumper and a couple of panels is usually several days. Anything structural, or a repair waiting on back-ordered parts, runs longer. We give you a timeline once the car is apart and we can see everything, and we tell you when that timeline changes rather than leaving you guessing.

What if you find more damage after you start?

That happens on most collision jobs, because the worst of it hides behind the panels. We document it, send a supplement to your insurer, and get approval before doing the additional work. You are not asked to cover the difference on approved supplements.

Do you use OEM parts?

Where the repair and your policy allow for it, yes. Some policies specify aftermarket or recycled parts for certain components. We will tell you what your policy covers and what we would recommend, and you decide.

Can you help with a rental car?

Yes. We coordinate with Enterprise and with your insurer's rental coverage so the handoff happens here rather than you arranging it separately.
